About the Trail

Rocky Lake, Orange Lake, and Orange River connect to form a 9-mile route through Washington County in downeast Maine.

The Orange River Water Trail is located in the town of Whiting. It is an easy to access, easy to paddle 9-mile flat-water trail, which includes miles of fresh water teeming with wildlife. The Orange River provides important inland waterfowl and wading bird habit and also supports bald eagles, deer wintering, and brook trout fisheries.

The Orange River Water Trail is located 100 miles east of Bangor, Maine. Get driving directions.

Access points to the Orange River Water Trail are on U.S. Route 1 about 13-16 miles east of Machias, Maine or about 3-5 miles west of Whiting, Maine.
